Curated Shorts is a community of filmmakers, film programmers and short film lovers — curating, watching and championing exceptional short films from around the world.

Why did we build this?

Short films are not a business card. They are a distinct art form, one that demands everything from a filmmaker and asks for none of the compromises that commercial cinema requires.

We wanted a platform that selects films on their own terms — independent of festival politics, industry gatekeeping, and the endless noise of trends. We wanted to watch shorts from every corner of the world, because filmmaking belongs to no single country and neither do the stories worth telling. And we wanted to find the people who spend months in the dark, pour money they don't have into something seventeen minutes long, and still feel, as Kubrick said — something few things in life can compete with, the moment they press export.

For at least 400,000 years, humans have gathered around fire to tell each other stories. Stories that taught us who we are and where we are going. Curated Shorts is that same impulse, visual, and global.

We premiere, review and analyse short films. We talk to the filmmakers. We take the work seriously.

Curated Shorts was founded by Roozbeh Misaghi — an Iranian-British filmmaker based in London — in January 2021, during the UK lockdown, after watching thousands of short films and finding too many of them were invisible to the audiences they deserved.
